More than 900 Central Texas parents with children under the age of 18 will be diagnosed with cancer this year – and that’s not even counting those previously diagnosed or affected by other illnesses like Lupus, MS, or ALS.

Wonders & Worries is serving nearly 500 of these families. Wonders & Worries' unique services are always provided by professionals and always offered free of charge. The families we serve may be your neighbor, your friend, your co-worker, or even a member of your family. What they share is a desire to keep their families intact and thriving through one of the most frightening occurrences a family can experience.

These families have only one organization dedicated to helping their children cope with their parent’s illness. There is simply no other resource for easing their fears or explaining the complicated medical information in a way that is easy for them to understand – and all within a comforting and nurturing environment. And as a young and rapidly growing organization, W&W needs your help to continue to provide these valuable services on which hundreds of families rely.

A gift of any amount will make a world of difference.

Just $25 pays for medical play supplies used to help children learn what happens when their daddy has a treatment.

$50 buys scrapbooking supplies used to help a parent facing death provide a lasting legacy their children will cherish.

$250 pays for six individual counseling sessions to help a child who just found out their mother has cancer.

$1,000 covers the costs for one eight-week course designed to help parents re-connect with their children after treatment or loss.

Become a WonderWriter!

Join the special group of organizations and individuals who recognize the importance of long-term support for Wonders & Worries. Pledge a gift of $1,000 or more annually for a period of three years and you will ensure that Wonders & Worries can continue to help children coping with a parent or other loved one’s chronic or life-threatening illness.

As a WonderWriter, you will be recognized as follows:

• Name listed on a decorative plaque at both Wonders & Worries offices.

• Name listed in W&W materials (newsletter, annual report, and website).

• Periodic special messages sent from the Executive Director updating you on the impact of your support.

• Annual luncheon with special guest speaking about issues important to our cause. 

• You will also receive a special gift made by one of the W&W children to commemorate your support.

Sustainer - $10,000 – Recognition also includes a table for 8 and recognition as an Argentinean Silver Sponsor at ¡Que Maravilla!, the annual fundraising event benefiting Wonders & Worries.
A gift in this amount pays for 188 Individual counseling sessions for children affected by a loved one’s life-threatening illness. Wonders & Worries is unique because we offer Individual support as an option for our clients. In 2007, our staff is averaging 186 of these sessions in a 2-month period.

Benefactor - $5,000 - Recognition also includes a table for 8 and recognition as a Brazilian Bronze Sponsor at ¡Que Maravilla!
A gift in this amount covers the cost of food provided at ALL W&W support groups for an entire year, including those for children who have a parent with cancer and bereaved children who have lost a loved one to serious illness.

Contributor – $2,500 – Recognition also includes tickets for four to ¡Que Maravilla! and recognition at the event.
A gift in this amount pays for the phone and auto allowance for one of our Child Life Specialists for a year. This allowance gives our staff the flexibility to serve our clients at schools, churches, cancer treatment centers and other locations convenient to our clients. Without this flexibility, many clients would not be able to receive W&W services.

Supporter - $1,000 - Recognition also includes tickets for two to ¡Que Maravilla! and recognition at the event.
A gift in this amount provides food, childcare and professional staffing for one 8-week Child Parent Relationship Training course, designed to help parents reconnect with their children following illness or loss.

Friend - $500 (This level is available to individual and/or couples only.)
A gift in this amount provides medical play supplies (band-aids, syringes, IV bags, surgical masks, etc.) for one of our play therapy rooms for one year. These items are used by our Child Life Specialists to facilitate a child’s understanding of the complicated medical procedures their loved ones are enduring.
