Fundraising Committee- Responsible for ensuring the financial stability of W&W through the creation and successful implementation of an annual fundraising plan for general operating revenue and special programs, including annual campaign, special events, grant writing and the development of other sources of revenue. Committee meets once a month. Committee Chair – Jason and Kacy Lavender.
Fundraising Event Committees – We currently have three fundraising event committees producing events for W&W. Members work both independently and with staff to coordinate all aspects of the events including sponsorship, ticket sales, food & beverage, entertainment, publicity, coordination with vendors, etc. See the events below:
Informal Support Committee
Responsible for planning all aspects of the parties we host for W&W client families. These include fun, free events such as an annual Valentine’s Party (February), an Ice Cream Social (April or May), a Bat Cruise on Town Lake (July or August) and a Fall Festival (October). These activities allow our families to take a break from whatever they’re dealing with and enjoy being together in a fun, relaxing environment with other families going through similar experiences.
Outreach Committee
Responsible for identifying opportunities and speaking directly with groups from the health care and counseling communities, civic organizations, employees participating in workplace giving campaigns and other interested parties to promote awareness of W&W. We are also looking for two detail-oriented people who might not be interested in speaking, but would enjoy scheduling these opportunities and communicating them with the committee. Volunteers are trained and provided a script and video for presentations. Committee Chair – Ali Houshmand
Special Project and AdministrativeVolunteers
Function alongside a staff person or independently to assist with one-time projects such as stuffing envelopes, staffing an activity at a client party, addressing envelopes, preparing craft and educational materials, distributing information and more. Volunteer opportunities take place at the W&W office or any other designated setting. We can ALWAYS use help in this area, please let us know if you would like to set regular times to help or give your time on a more periodic basis. We are specifically looking for two or three volunteers to come in two hours per week to help on a consistent basis!
