Season for Caring Family Benefiting from Your Generosity

October 19, 2016 - Ashley McGill and her two children Alyanna, 10, and Preston, 8, pose for a family portrait at the family apartment in Austin, Tx., on Wednesday, Oct. 19, 2016. Ashley often has debilitating headaches and is unable to do much of anything at a moment's notice, and throughout the day suffers from loss of speech coherence and body spasms. (AUSTIN AMERICAN-STATESMAN / Rodolfo Gonzalez)This year Wonders & Worries nominated Ashley McGill and her two children, Alyanna (10) and Preston (6) for the Season for Caring Campaign.

Ashley suffers from neurological disorders which cause debilitating headaches and render her unable to work. Recently through the Campaign, Ashley received an adjustable Tempur-Pedic bed so she doesn’t have to sleep in a chair when her headaches are severe.

Now in its 18th year, the Season for Caring program has raised $9.8 million for local nonprofit agencies. They nominate families to be part of the program and then money raised helps the selected families first.

But it’s more than just 12 families who benefit, as the nonprofits also receive funds to help hundreds of other clients throughout the year with basic needs. For instance, Wonders & Worries provides clients with gift cards for gas, groceries, school supplies and emergency bill paying.

Your generosity keeps families like Ashley’s physically and mentally supported.
