Wonders & Worries Launches Free Support Services in Atlanta for Children Facing a Parent’s Serious Illness or Injury
ATLANTA, GA — [June 18, 2025] — Wonders & Worries, a leading nonprofit that provides free, professional support for children and teenagers navigating a parent’s serious illness or injury, proudly announces the launch of its direct services in Atlanta. This expansion marks a key milestone in the organization’s nationwide growth strategy.
Since 2001, Wonders & Worries has served over 19,000 children and parents, offering expert guidance and emotional support during some of life’s most difficult moments. The organization’s clinically validated Illness Education and Coping Curriculum©, delivered by Certified Child Life Specialists and mental health professionals, helps children ages 2 to 18 build resilience, express emotions, and thrive—despite the challenges at home.
“Serious illness doesn’t just affect the patient — it affects the whole family,” said Brent Metschan, National Development Director at Wonders & Worries. “Children often don’t have the tools to express what they’re going through, and that’s where our child life experts come in. We’re thrilled to bring these vital services to Atlanta families through the generous support of local donors.”
Direct Support Comes to Atlanta Families
The Atlanta expansion brings Wonders & Worries’ trusted child life model to the Greater Atlanta area, offering:

- Free services to all families
Services are led locally by Becca Schuetz, CCLS, a Certified Child Life Specialist and Registered Wonders & Worries Provider. Schuetz brings a deep commitment to child-centered care and extensive experience supporting families through serious medical challenges.
