November is the month dedicated to sharing awareness of children’s grief. So often, when discussing pediatric grief, we may instantly think in terms of supporting the grief of small children. The truth is; however, our adolescent populations face far more losses than any other pediatric age group. Loss of their friends, parents, relationships often saturate this stage of development. The teen years can be a space of intense growing and intense grieving.
In this episode, we collaborate with four Austin-area teenagers, all directly impacted by loss. Join us as they share about the care that felt welcomed and connective in their grief and offer firsthand suggestions to supporting the grieving adolescents in your own lives.
