Certified Child Life Specialist (PRN, 10hr/week) – Austin/Westlake
The Certified Child Life Specialist is primarily responsible for the delivery of programmatic content to client families in a community setting. This is a part-time position starting at 10 hours/week with potential to increase to 20 hours/week. The primary office location for this position is our Westlake office.

Position Summary: Primarily responsible for the delivery of programmatic content to client families.
Role and Responsibilities
Clinical Work
- Provide high quality therapeutic interactions to client families
- Provide efficient program delivery that promotes the overall functioning of WW’s (as evidenced by capacity metrics, engagement in beach projects/other tasks as assigned, proactive communication re: utilization)
- Provide initial triage, offer support, conduct intakes with referred families as assigned
- Facilitate therapeutic groups for clients at W&W’s offices or in school/community settings
- Communicate and collaborate with school counselors and other mental health professionals as appropriate
- Maintain contact with family members and provide parent consultation
- Meet with clients at W&W’s office, virtually, in school settings as appropriate and at other community locations as needed to provide support or conduct intakes. Attend memorial services or funerals of clients at times
- Recognize when a client’s needs are outside of W&W’s scope of service and refer clients for navigation as necessary
- Maintain accurate, thorough and timely documentation in client database. Retrieve client data as needed for program reports and client communication (ex. group email communication)
- Monitor and maintain materials needed for programming and communicate with the child life assistant when supplies are needed
Teamwork/Communication
- Participates as an integral teammate through proactive communication and engagement with the organization as appropriate
- Communicate with supervisor, other child life staff and other members of the Wonders & Worries staff regarding clients, scheduling and projects as needed
- Attend meetings as needed for job function
- Utilize accessible tools for collaborative and efficient work (T sheets, calendar, Sharepoint)
- Identify client families for a variety of W&W’s opportunities/initiatives including sharing their family story, participating in fundraising events, speaking on behalf of W&W’s or receiving support through season for caring and other programs.
- Communicate proactively regarding self-care and work-life balance needs, and engage in strategies to promote health in both areas
Professionalism/Education
- Conducts themselves in a manner that demonstrates professional and ethical behavior, and contributes to and elevates the reputation of Wonders & Worries
- Participate in continuing education opportunities to satisfy child life certification requirements or other licensure requirements.
- Maintain office environment to present a comfortable and professional therapeutic space for clients and visitors.
- Provide supervision and coordination with practicum students and volunteers as needed
- Create psychoeducational material as requested
- Present educational material to professionals and other audiences
